Pauri City Is situated at an elevation of 1814 m above sea-level on the northern slopes of Kandoliya hills, Pauri is the headquarter of the district Pauri Garhwal and the Garhwal Division. Pauri provides a panoramic view of the snow clad Himalayan peaks of Bander Punchh, Swarga-Rohini, Jonli, Gangotri Group, Jogin Group, Thalaiya-Sagar, Kedarnath, Kharcha Kund, Sumeru, Satopanth, Chaukhamba, Neelkanth, Ghoriparvat, Hathiparvat, Nandadevi and Trisul.

The city of Pauri is blessed with snow-capped mountains surrounded all over with eye catching natural beauties.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

Summers during March to June are pretty enjoyable in Pauri with pleasant climate and winters during December to February are extremely cold with minimum temperature falls subzero level. Snowfalls through out winters are a spectacular characteristic of Pauri.
Best season to visit Pauri is March to November avoiding freezing winters.

PLACES AROUND PAURI GARHWAL

Khirsu - Khirsu is situated 15kms from Pauri at an altitude of 1700mts above sea level. Khirsu is situated in a tranquil place with numerous oak trees, deodar trees and apple orchards around. Located in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand state, Khirsu affords captivating views of the imposing Himalayan range.

Doodhatoli - One of the most picturesque places, it commands a panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges and the surrounding areas.

Jwalpa Devi Temple - It is one of the well known religious places of the entire division and a large number of devotees come here round the year for darshan. It is 34 km from Pauri on the main Pauri-Kotdwar road.

Kandoliya Temple - is dedicated to Kandoliya Devta, located on the Pauri - Lansdowne road amidst picturesque environs.

Deoprayag - The road emanating from Pauri and leading to Deoprayag, one of the holiest confluences for the Hindu devotees, is an experience of its kind.

Chaukhamba View Point - Chaukhamba view point is just 4 kilo meter away from Pauri district. From this view point tourists can see the wonderful Idwal valley and Chaukhamba peaks as well.

Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple - Surrounded by dense deodar and pine forests, Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple attracts devotees and non-devotees equally with its beauty and liveliness. Situated 36Km from Lansdowne, the Shiva temple is at the height of 1800 meters and provides panoramic view of the grandiose Himalayas.

Binsar Mahadev Temple - 114Km away from Pauri of Pauri Garhwal district of Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand, Binsar Mahadev Temple is 2480 meters above sea level surrounded by the thick green forest of birch, deodar and rhododendron.Bindeshwar Mahadev Temple is another name of Binsar Mahadev Temple. During Baikuntha Chadurdashi every year, a popular fair is held at th temple premises. You need to trek 24Km to Binsar Mahadev from Thalisain.
